Origins
Dead Can Dance was formed from the ashes of Last Rites on the Unrest server which suffered from a lack of structure and the leadership's desire for power, riches and 'the ladies'. Dead Can Dance has no "leader", instead opting for an officer core who all share equal power. The founding members came together to prosper as a guild and team not individually. Leadership, teamwork, cooperation, going the extra mile, enthusiasm... These words can be found frequently in the chat logs of that faithful evening on December 4, 2005.

Dead Can Dance is currently only active on the Nagafen PvP server, although the guild does technically still exist on Unrest.

Some Ideals and Statements:
By helping and encouraging members to advance and prosper, the guild also advances and prospers.

Guild First - In all things, the good of the guild trumps the good of an individual. If a guildie needs your help while you are in a pickup group, you should drop group and go help.

Every member of the guild, from initiate to Senior member is important.

Higher level guildies have more responsibilities to both the guild as a whole and lower level guildies. Offering help and suggestions is partly how you achieved your rank.

Disputes will be handled fairly and without partiality.

A guild with 20 good players who are on a lot and work together is better than a guild with 10 good dedicated players and 100 other players who don't give a shit. It's quality over quantity.

Although we would like to do more end game raiding, both PvP and PvE. we will not allow people in the guild just to have the numbers to do it. We should get our guildies tricked out with the best gear possible, by whatever means we can. Instances, Tokens, and if it works out raiding. A raiding alliance may be in the works, but it won't happen at the expense of our identity.

Would we like to be an "Uber" guild? Sure. If we aren't, do we really care? No. We are here to have fun playing the game, talking with friends both new and old in Ventrilo or Teamspeak, and to get as much cool stuff as we can.

Drama? Keep it the hell out of the Guild.

Shit talking? Not by our Guild members. We are all adults, we need to act like adults. If you get bashed, make a mature argument, then drop it. At all times guildies need to remember they represent the guild by wearing our tag. Rise above the bullshit.

PvP - At this point, PvP is not a big part of what we do. Seldom do we form groups to go out PvPing. We treat it as an added element of gameplay... "We need to get to Ho'Lou to progress our class hat quest, how do we get past the x3 at the cloud platform?" PvP can be considered an "intelligent" mob (at least a "little" smarter than npc mobs). If we run into a good fight on our way somewhere, hell yeah we'll engage.

Hacking/Exploiting - ABSOLUTELY NOT TOLERATED! If you have to resort to this type of activity to enjoy the game, we have NO use for you. If we find you exploiting or hacking, you will be removed from the guild. If we only suspect it, you will be confronted for an explanation. We hope that the guild rank progression will weed out any bad apples before they get to be full members. (EQ2 Maps is NOT considered an exploit by SOE, nor the guild)

This is a game... it *has* to be fun.

Dead Can Dance Rank Structure
Code:

Leader (Deadcandance)
Officer
Special Teams
Senior Member
Member
Initiate
Alts
Recruit

Leader
Deadcandance
The Guild Leader is a Deadcandance, a level 3 Rotonga Priest from Temple Street, Freeport. Deadcandance will also act as the guild merchant. This toon is on a dedicated account just for merchanting and being the guild figurehead. He does not go out adventuring. [NOTE: Currently, the rat is on leave. When there is a need, he will return]

Officer
Spiritdance, Leep
The officer core are the true "leaders" of the guild. Problem resolution, coordination, player and guild relations, morale, and much more. All officers have equal powers. Look to the officer when you find yourself in a dilemma or have a question. They are here to help our members achieve their goals and advance the guild. The buck stops here. Only officers can invite to the guild.

Special Teams
These are the "Senior Members" that have a specific task. Banker, recruitment person, raid organizers etc... In due time, we will have fighter, priest, mage, and scout "team leaders" These are people each class can look to for questions about their class. More importantly, they will brief their classes on the roles they will play in raids. There is currently no need for this designation.

Senior Member
The people that are here, day in and day out, 95% reliable or better. They can always be counted on to be at guilds events raids and grouping with other guildies. This classification is not achieved easily. Major dedication the guild and the game must be displayed and maintained. Senior members have no more privileges that Members. The title Senior Member shows a dedication above and beyond the call. Senior members are one step above members in the loot hierarchy.

Member
The rank and file. More important than every rank above it. These are players who have shown a dedication to the guild and willingness to help other players over an extended period. Contributes with writs and Heritage Quests, and helps others do the same.

Initiate
These are the people that make it through the application / recruitment process. They are assets and we should take care of them and encourage them.

Alts
This is the furthest an Alt can progress in the guild. We prefer you concentrate on your main character until their level is maxed. Most all benefits are still available to Alts, but they are further down on the loot list. (There are very rare exceptions to this rule)

Recruit
Newly invited, recruits. They have a lot of work to do. If after a short time we don't see them fitting in we should cut them lose, but if we see effort and teamwork they will be promoted. The number of people in this category should be very small. (Writs are always nice... wink wink)

-----------------------
Recruitment and Membership
Minimum level for guild membership: 20 (this includes Alts)

Being a full member of the guild does not mean your new alt will be accepted into the guild automatically. Dead Can Dance firmly believes that until your character is maxed out, the majority of your play time should be dedicated to your Main. That's who we brought into the guild. When it comes to loot, alts will be given next to last consideration. The hierarchy is listed above.

Rank Advancement
Advancement in the guild is determined by the officer core. The officer core uses the guidelines outlined above combined with 'the gut' to determine promotions.

Officers
Dead Can Dance has a very lean officer core. This is by design. The rank of officer is not granted as a 'reward'. Members are made officers out of a need to have them in the position. Those of us who came from 'the previous guild' can attest that more officers does not in and of itself make a better guild.

Recruitment and Application
Who do we recruit?

How do they Apply?

Guild Bank
Bank Administrator: Agaxia
Guidelines on how the guild bank should be used as well as general etiquette.

Do's
    * Do take things whenever you need them for your *main* character
    * Alts may take harvestable items, collections and food.
    * Do tell the guild when you deposit something of interest
    * Do use the guild bank! Don't feel bad for taking something that could be useful! That's what it is there for!
    * If you need money to acquire an item to complete a Heritage Quest, please contact an officer or the guild banker. That's one of the main purposes for that gold.

Do not's
    * Do not take items to sell for personal profit.
    * Do no take spell scrolls or legendary items unless your rank is member or above without permission from an officer.
    * Do not deposit a duplicate collection item unless it stacks.
    * Do not deposit more than one stack of the same harvestable.

A note about Alts... Our general feeling about alts is described above. We do recognize that there are alts who are absolutely invaluable to the guild. We understand that there are several 'sets' of characters that need equal attention. This is not an issue. What we do not want is a guild full of half leveled alts. Look toward end game and raiding. [NOTE: the stance on ALTs has changed significantly. Many high level players have many alts. These are used to help newer guildies advance their characters. As long as an alt is active, they are allowed. Keep in mind, your MAIN should ALWAYS come first until your level is MAXED, unless helping other guildies progress]

An addendum is currently being drafted
